Mahabharat Episode 1

King Bharat returns to his royal capital, Hastinapur. He has returned after invading and making several territories a part of his kingdom. After his return, he sees his subjects looking up to him to choose his successor. King Bharat assures them that he will be choosing a successor to his throne shortly. But he is very confused about whom to choose for the position. Even though he has nine sons, he does not see any of them fit to become a king. After much thought, King Bharat makes a commoner, but someone who possesses all the qualities to become a king, his successor. This greatly shocks his mother, Queen Shakuntala, and all his subjects. But he tells his mother that he needs to do that to fulfill his duties as a king. After several generations, Shantanu becomes the king of Hastinapur. One day he is hunting where he meets Ganga and mesmerized by her beauty, instantly falls in love with her.
